Comap – the leading European manufacturer and distributor of plumbing and heating products – has added new thermostatic mixing valves to its range.
With a nationwide drive to reduce injuries resulting from bath time scalding, thermostatic mixing valves (TMVs) – are a vital piece of equipment as they blend hot and cold water so that taps run at a safe, pre-set and constant temperature. Already good practice to use TMVs, it is expected that British Building regulations in April 2010 will ensure it is mandatory to install in all new bathrooms.
The Comap TMVs are WRAS approved and feature brass bodies, in-line design and are available in 15mm and 22mm.
Comap’s Safeguard TMV 2 is ideally suited to standard applications, such as private homes, rented accommodation, hotels and holiday homes.Tested and certified as complying with BSEN111 and BSEN1287, the TMV 2 is covered by the TMV2 scheme.
Applications such as hospitals and nursing homes where there are vulnerable users should be fitted with the Safeguard TMV 3. This valve features a tamperproof temperature adjustment for extra security and is suitable for showers, bidets, washbasins and baths. The Safeguard TMV 3 is independently tested by WRc-NSF against requirements of BS 7942:2000 and NHS Estates model engineering specification D08. It complies with the requirements of TMV3 Scheme.
Ged Grimes, Sales Director commented: ‘’Comap has a long tradition of providing products to help installers meet the latest regulations (D08). Comap’s TMVs comply to strictest safety certifications, which are vital in a product with such an important role to play.’’
